History of the land of Hastinapur

For every person who considers India as its motherland, fatherland or a holy land, every inch of it is worthy of a mention. It assumes even more significance, where great men and Tirthankaras have attained enlightenment. Such places are superlative among pilgrims. Amongst such great places, there is an eminent historic pilgrimage named Hastinapur. It located in Northern India, 110 km North East of Delhi, near the city of Meerut.

According to the ‘Jainagams’, Hastinapur was built at the beginning of the civilization along with the holy Indian cities of Ayodhya and Kashi. This was the time when the first Jain Tirthankara, ‘Shri Rishabhdev’, laid the foundation of the devotion centric Karma, while putting an end to the Bhog Bhumi (Akarma Bhumi).

History of Shri Shantinath Temple

The construction of this temple was done by Babu Shri Pratapchand ji Parsan, the son of Shri Gulabchand ji Parsan, resident of Calcutta, with his personal wealth, which was completed during Vikram Samvat 1929 (around 1872-73).

Shri Vinodbhai N. Dalal and his memorable contributions

Birth and education

Vinodbhai Dalal was born on the auspicious day of October 29, 1920 to a religious Gujarati Jain couple named Sh. Nandlal Dalal and Smt. Chanchalben Dalal, residents of Ahmedabad.

Livelihood

During his career, he served various prestigious roles like Electrical Engineer, Chief Engineer and Advisor, Engineering Services with D.C.M. (Delhi). He performed each and every role with extreme devotion and commitment through out his career span.

Religious Karma and Spiritual Love

Shri Vinodbhai N. Dalal took membership of “Hastinapur Jain Shwetambar Tirtha Prabandhak Committee” in 1952. He served as the President of the committee from 1961 to 1972.

Devotion to Guru


Along with Shri Vinodbhai’s work efficiency and commitment to duty, his extreme devotion to Jain saints has also been notable.

Indelible mark on Hastinapur shrine

Under the able guidance and supervision of Shri Vinodbhai Dalal, there were many new establishments set up in the Hastinapur shrine, such as “Shri Shantinath Bhagavan Temple, Bhojnalaya, Rishabhdev Bhagwan Parana and Kalyanak Temple, Seth Shri Surajmal Nagindas Jhaveri Dharamshala, Shri Dharmchand Kanchankumari Jain Upasana Bhawan, Sanghvi Shri Kesharimalji Gadia Dharamshala, Smt. Mohandai Oswal Jain Parana Bhawan, Nishiya Ji Temple and Shri Rishabhdev Nirvana Bhumi Ashtapad Temple”.
